As a young man, Rockwell made an oath in art school swearing never to prostitute our art. Never to do advertising jobs, never to make more than $50 a week. That oath was broken early as his 1914 advertisement for Heinz Baked Beans “The Best Lunch for a Hike” (image not found). |
