Donald Trump Good Deeds

     1.          In 1995, a motorist stopped to help Trump after the limo he was traveling in got a flat tire. Trump asked the good samaritan how he could repay him for his help. The man only asked for a bouquet of flowers for his wife. A few weeks later Trump sent the flowers to their home with a note that read: "We've paid off your mortgage."

 

     2.          In 2008, after Jennifer Hudson's family members were tragically murdered in Chicago, Trump put her and her family up at his Windy City hotel for free. In addition to that, Trump's security took extra measures to ensure Hudson and her family members were safe during such a difficult time.

 

     3.          Trump bought Mar A Lago, a segregated private estate and when he reopened it as a private club Jews and blacks were finally allowed to join. The town fought Trump on this, but he sent every member of the town council copies of movies about discrimination: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner and A Gentleman's Agreement. In 1996, Trump filed a lawsuit against the city of Palm Beach, Florida accusing the town of discriminating against his Mar-a-Lago resort club because it allowed Jews and blacks. Abraham Foxman, who was the Anti-Defamation League Director at the time, said Trump "put the light on Palm Beach — not on the beauty and the glitter, but on its seamier side of discrimination." Foxman also noted that Trump's charge had a trickle-down effect because other clubs followed his lead and began admitting Jews and blacks.

 

     4.          Trump launched a crowd-funding site which ensured that a young Mexican-American boy with a terminally-ill mother could attend college.

 

     5.          In 1988 when a sick 3-year-old Orthodox Jewish, Andrew Ten, needed a flight from California to New York for special treatment Trump dispatched his private jet when no airline would accommodate the boy's elaborate life-support system.

 

     6.          In 2013 when Trump heard bus driver Darnell Barton saved a woman from jumping off a bridge, he sent him $10,000. Trump said, "Although I know to you it was just a warm-hearted first response to a dangerous situation your quick thinking resulted in a life being saved, and for that, you should be rewarded."

 

     7.          In 1986, Trump prevented the foreclosure of Annabell Hill's family farm after her husband committed suicide. Trump personally phoned down to the auction to stop the sale of her home and offered the widow money. Trump decided to take action after he saw Hill's pleas for help in news reports.

 

     8.          In 1991, 200 Marines who served in Operation Desert Storm spent time at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina before they were scheduled to return home to their families. However, the Marines were told that a mistake had been made and an aircraft would not be able to take them home on their scheduled departure date. When Trump got wind of this, he sent his plane to make two trips from North Carolina to Miami to return the Gulf War Marines to their loved ones.

 

     9.          In 2000, Maury Povich featured a little girl named Megan who struggled with Brittle Bone Disease on his show and Trump happened to be watching. Trump said the little girl's story and positive attitude touched his heart. So he contacted Maury and gifted the little girl and her family with a "very generous check.

 

 10.          In 2014, Trump gave $25,000 to Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi after he spent seven months in a Mexican jail for accidentally crossing the US-Mexico border. Obama never tried to get Andrew back to the US.

 

 11.          In 2016, Melissa Consin Young attended a Trump rally and tearfully thanked Trump for changing her life. She said she proudly stood on stage with Trump as Miss Wisconsin USA in 2005. However, years later she found herself struggling with an incurable illness and during her darkest days she explained that she received a handwritten letter from Trump telling her she's the "bravest woman, I know." She said the opportunities that she got from Trump and his organizations ultimately provided her Mexican-American son with a full-ride to college.

 

 12.          Lynne Patton, a black female executive for the Trump Organization, released a statement in 2016 defending her boss against accusations that he's a racist and a bigot. She tearfully revealed how she's struggled with substance abuse and addiction for years. Instead of kicking her to the curb, she said the Trump Organization and his entire family loyally stood by her through "immensely difficult times."

 

 13.          Trump loaned his personal jet to Nelson Mandela. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson personally thanked Donald Trump for his private donations to several African American scholarship funds.

 

 14.          Trump was on the board of directors of several charitable organizations, including the Police Athletic League and the United Cerebral Palsy. Trump upgraded MLK's birthplace to a national historic park when he became president.

 

 15.          Trump established an Opportunity & Revitalization Council to restore insalubrious black neighborhoods.

 

 16.          Trump granted Alice Johnson clemency. March 9, 2018.

 

 17.          The White House announced that President Trump had pardoned Kristian Saucier, a Navy sailor who unlawfully took pictures of a classified room in a submarine and whose crime was compared to that of Hillary Clinton who was not punished for herself mishandling classified information.

 

 18.          April 13, 2018. President Trump pardoned Scooter Libby, an aide to former Vice President Dick Cheney who had been convicted in 2007 for obstruction of justice after a special counsel investigation criticized by conservatives. Though many conservatives advocated for pardoning Libby before Trump's action, former President George W. Bush only chose to commute his sentence.

 

 19.          August 25, 2017. Trump's first pardon was granted to former Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio, who was convicted of criminal contempt for disregarding a court order in a racial-profiling case.

 

 20.          May 24, 2018. President Trump posthumously pardoned Jack Johnson, the first boxing champion who was black, something previous administrations such as the Bush and Obama administrations refused to do.

 

 21.          May 31, 2018 President Trump pardoned conservative activist Dinesh D'Souza, who had been convicted in 2014 for making an illegal campaign contribution.

 

 22.          July 10, 2018. President Trump pardoned Dwight and Steven Hammond, two ranchers who were given unusually long sentences for setting a controlled fire that spread to federal lands, something which had inspired protests from conservative ranchers including Ammon Bundy.

 

 23.          May 6, 2019. President Trump pardoned Army Lieutenant Michael Behenna, who had been convicted in 2009 of killing a suspected Iraqi terrorist prisoner and who had broad support for a pardon.

 

 24.          Trump used to own the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants. Controversy arose when Miss USA 2006 Tara Conner was caught breaking pageant rules by drinking and other activities. Trump gave her a second chance after personally speaking with her and allowed her to retain her crown as she attended rehabilitation. For several weeks after this, Rosie O'Donnell berated Trump for his decision on The View.

 

 25.          Each quarter since taking office, President Trump has donated his salary, fulfilling a promise he made to the American people.

 

 26.          In 2019 Trump signed H.R. 2423 to honor Women's Suffrage with the Centennial Commemorative Coin Act. The bill directs the Treasury Department to create currency that honors the women who played a major part in the passage of the 19th Amendment, which was ratified in 1920.
