Mystery stuff
1. STRANGE POST COVER One of the pictures I collected during the early phase of this project remains a mystery. At first glance looks like a “The Saturday Evening Post” February 3, 1963 magazine cover featuring a portrait of Norman Rockwell. After closer examination: 1) It is not Norman Rockwell work (can’t recognize the name at lower left corner). 2) It is not a real “the Saturday Evening Post” Magazine cover The magazine date of February 3, 1963 does not jib with the magazine name structure. Back on May 30, 1942 the magazine title was changed from: THE SATURDAY EVENING POST To: The Saturday Evening POST . Then on July 27, 1968 the name structure changed to: The Saturday Evening Post Then on June 1, 1971 the name structure changed back to: THE SATURDAY EVENING POST Norman Rockwell’s birthday is February 3, 1894, making him exactly 69 years old for the magazine date. Sort of matches the age of the man with the pipe in the picture. Making him too old for the old magazine title structure prior to May 30, 1942. 2. HOW MANY SIBLINGS? Most Norman Rockwell books and articles specify one brother named Jarvis Waring Rockwell, a year, and a half older. Other sources suggest he had two brothers, Jarvis and J Moling. Genealogy online shows a Jarvis Moling Rockwell as son of Norman’s parents born 1903. Why would there be two living sons named Jarvis? Other articles say he had a younger brother Jerry (J Moling?). WikiTree shows J Moling Rockwell born in 1903 as brother of Jarvis Waring Rockwell and Norman Percevel Rockwell. 3. ELON MUSK CONNECTION? Even more puzzling the WikiTree website provides.an ancestry connection between J Moling Rockwell and Elon Musk: 4. BROTHER IS SALVADOR DALI?
5. FIRST MARRIGE Some articles say marriage only lasted about 5 years (until 1921). Others say the divorce was not until January 13, 1930 6. BIRTH MOTHER Birth certificate says mother was Anne W. Rockwell with maiden name Hier. Most articles say he was the second child of Nancy Hill Rockwell. Anne Hill is said to have been given the nickname Nancy as to avoid confusion with her mother’s name which was also Anne. 7. DIFFERENT SIGNATURES Two different images of original Rockwell painting of Lyndon Johnson with different signatures.
